Yukon Rivers
Highland River Class 3
This is a river that in the early part of the year can be canoed from its source, Upper Highland Lake. Very few have ever started this trip from the lake. The take out would be 48 km’s east of Watson Lake and by road.

Tyers River Class 1 - 2
This is a great short trip that the pickup is via road. The put is is a small lake ½ km off the headwater of the Tyers River. One runs the Tyres down to Frances Lake, then down the Frances River to the bridge 20 miles north of Watson Lake or the bridge 5 miles west of Watson.

Liard River Class 1 - 2
The Liard if you do the upper section and pull out at Watson Lake is a nice easy flowing river that starts off at Caribou Lakes then skirts the mountains on its route to Watson Lake. This would be a road take out, just 5 miles west of Watson.

Ross River
Starting at the headwaters of the Ross can be an exciting adventure. One would fly into Wilson Lake, just north of Itsi Lakes.

Pelly River Class 2 – 4
The Pelly if one starts at its headwaters is at Summit Lake. Very few people have ever canoed the upper reaches of the Pelly. At Wolf Canyon one would portage a small falls, then there is about 2 miles of class 3 rock dodging. One can take out at the Hoole Canyon and miss the heavy rapid between the Hoole and Ross River. This section could give you some class 4 water.

Hess River Class 3 – 4
The Hess is one of the most challenging white water rivers in the Yukon. Do your homework before doing this river. There are two put in locations, Porter Puddle further up river or Keele Lake.
